Well surprise, this is transfer week! We just found out that this was a 5 week transfer instead of a 6. There are just so many missionaries coming in so we are trying to keep up with the schedule at the MTC. The next few transfers might be kind of weird, but it is alright! After impatiently waiting for the phone call last night, we got the verdict that Sister Nuttall will be staying in Oliver for 2 weeks and be the District Coordinator. How exciting! Scary part though...is I am training! Yikes! We are going to have a new missionary come with us, so we will be in a trio. Since Sister Nuttall goes home in a couple weeks, they are just keeping her here until that time comes. I cannot believe that the Lord is trusting me to train a brand new missionary...I AM A BRAND NEW MISSIONARY! But the Lord qualifies whom He calls, so I guess I will not worry about it. What an honor it is to have that trust. After 5 weeks in the field, the Lord is trusting a 20 year old girl to train a girl who is probably my same age! That just shows how true this Chruch really is. No organization would put the growth of their community into the hands of teenagers, unless it was true. I am so grateful that I do not have to rely on my convincing skills to convert people. We all know how tragic that would be! It is so comforting to know that whatever I say is true as long as it is by the Spirit...the Lord will testify to them of the truthfulness. We are the only church I know that asks the people we are teaching to ask God if what we are saying is true. Don't take our word for it! That's how confident we are that this is the Lord's church. :)
So, a few miracles I want to mention this week. First of all, we had exchanges again this week and I was with Sister Tutt. We stayed here in Oliver, and taught a new investigator together. It was so great! However, I was in charge of the Pentictonphone all night since Sister Tutt was driving. Well, we got home at the end of the night and I realized I did not know where the phone was. After sincerely praying to find it, I had nothing. Well, we woke up the next morning, and I knew exactly where it was. It had to be over at the house we stopped by last because I had it before then. Well, unfortunately, this guy lives out in the boons in the middle of nowhere on a farm. Nonetheless, we drove out there. Sure enough, there in a pile of horse poop was the Penticton phone. Talk about a miracle. Obviously I could have done without the poop...but hey, the Lord helped me find that phone and gave me such comfort!!
As for the investigator I was just talking about, his name is Chris. The Pentictonsisters were out personal contacting one day and ran into him, and found out he lives here so they set us up with him. So amazing how the Lord works! Anyway, he is SO prepared for the Gospel! He has had a problem with crystal meth and a lot of other things, but it just goes to show that we cannot judge people. That is not our place. We taught him as if he was entering into the waters of baptism that day. He said he had chills when we mentioned Joseph Smith's first vision! That is definitley the Spirit, and I love that we cannot MAKE him feel those things. Only the Spirit can! Well, anyway, he is amazing. He is living here with an older couple that he just met a few years back. The woman's name is Bea, and well...Satan is working hard through her to get rid of us. After our second lesson, she walked us out and told us she hates when we come over and if we ever step foot on her property again that she would file a report with the police. Well, that wouldn't bother us normally, but unfortunately Chris has no phone of his own and no car and no way to get in contact with him. So we have been fasting and praying for the Lord to bring him into our pathway somehow! We know that as we put our faith in Him, He will give us a way to find this incredible man again!
We went out tracting for a few hours one night. We tracted this little complex and it was amazing! We found 2 new investigators from it! Zultan and Evelyn. Zultan is from Hungary and says that he knows we have to be teaching some sort of truth because he sees a light in our eyes. I never knew that people could actually see that...but he said as he was talking to us on his doorstep that he wants us to come back because he wants what we have. He said he can tell by looking into our eyes that we were sent from God. How sweet is he! I just love him! Well, we have taught him about the Book of Mormon and are going back again on Saturday. So exciting!!
I had an amazing fast this past week. If you know me, you know how much I love food...and that is an understatement. Well, fasting has always been difficult for me. But this past week I was fasting for a couple things that were rightesous desires and that I really felt the Lord wanted me to fast for. As I wrote those things down in my planner, I kept them on my mind all day. My amazing companion Sister Nuttall challenged me to fast for 24 hours. Well, as hesitant as I was, I told her I would try. And thanks to the Lord's help, I was able to do it! I normally can only fast for two meals and barely make it through that. Well, after finding that I was able to fast for 24 hours, I was so grateful to the Lord. It kept me so focused on the things I was fasting for and so aware of the Lord's hand in my life throughout the day. How grateful I am to have this relationship with Him!
Last miracle I will share is about our investigator Noreen. We have been praying about somebody to be her friend from the ward, and after DAYS of thinking who it could be, Sister Wiren came to our mind. We were a little hesitant because Sister Wiren does not exactly keep all the commandments or have a strong testimony of the church. But the Lord was telling us to do it. How grateful I am that we listened. If we would have judged Sister Wiren, we would hve been so lost! She made the lesson amazing!! Noreen has a difficult time seeing why she needs to come to church and she has had a struggle with it for as long as we have met with her. Well, Sister Wiren was the answer. We walk in and apparently they knew each other from way back when hey! And they talked and caught up and had some laughs before we started. Well, then Sister Wiren left her her number and said to give her a call and she can ride with her to church. Noreen was more than excited. It is so amazing to me how Heavenly Father works. I am so grateful that I get to see these tender mercies each day!! Noreen and Sister Wiren helped me feel the Spirit on a level that I have not felt in a while!!
For this week's challenge, I just wanted to invite each of you to pray daily for somebody else by name. It would be great if you did it for more than one person even! But the power of praying for somebody by name is immeasurable. Let me know how it goes!!
I want to tell the Farnsworth family that I am so sorry about your dad passing away, and that you guys are an incredible family. I especially want Fred and Julie to know how much you mean to me and you are in my prayers.
I almost forgot to tell Beau and Grant happy birthday! My mom sent me the list of tons of birthdays so I will try not to forget them. I heard about Michael so Michael I hope you feel better and drink water hey!!!!
Well, I guess that is all for this week. I just wish I could tell you EVERYTHING!! I am so grateful that I am learning how to forget myself. I find that as I focus on my investigators and on helping them, that the Lord in turn helps me so much! I find the greatest happiness from seeing others find this happiness. Just know that the Lord is allowing us to harvest His vineyard here in Oliver. We are headed to Richmondtomorrow until Friday to pick up our newbie! I cannot wait!
I love you all so much. And just an FYI, we just got the clearance to email friends as well now! So if anybody emails me I can email back now! Hooray! Thank you so much for all of your support. I love you all, and I pray that you will seek to see the Lord's hand in all things this coming week.
Love,
Sister Biggs
